Type 2 is the seven-pin connector used by most EVs and PHEVs in the UK, and it's the socket you'll find on home wallboxes and public AC charge points. Our coiled Mode 3 cables are rated at 7.4kW, come in black or green from 1.8m to 7.5m, and recoil neatly when you unplug. For home charging, choose an EVEC Type 2 wallbox in 7.4kW single phase or 22kW three phase, tethered or socketed, or the EV Extras 80, a Type 2 charger that runs from a standard UK 3 pin socket, in lengths from 5m to 30m.

What is a Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable?
It's a Mode 3 cable with a Type 2 plug at each end, one for the charge point and one for your car. It's the cable you need for socketed home wallboxes and most public AC charge points in the UK. Our coiled versions run from 1.8m to 7.5m, and our straight 7.4kW cables go up to 30m. Tethered chargers have their own cable fixed in place, so you don't need a separate one there.
What's the difference between a Type 2 cable and a Type 2 charger?
A Type 2 cable connects your car to a charge point, while a Type 2 charger is the unit that supplies the power. Chargers include home wallboxes, which a qualified electrician installs, and portable 3 pin chargers that plug into a standard socket. If you use a socketed wallbox or public posts, you only need the cable.
