What charging cable does the MG4 need

The MG4 uses a Type 2 connector. For home wallbox or public AC charging you need a Mode 3 Type 2 to Type 2 cable. For charging from a standard household 3-pin socket you need a Mode 2 portable charger.

What is the charging speed of the MG4?

The MG4 supports AC charging at up to 7.4kW on a single phase 32 amp supply. Using a 7.4kW home wallbox, the battery will charge from empty to full in approximately 10 to 11 hours.

Does the MG4 come with a charging cable?

The MG4 typically comes with a Mode 2 portable 3-pin granny cable as standard. A Mode 3 Type 2 cable for home wallbox or public charging is not included, which is why most MG4 owners buy one separately.

What is a granny charger for the MG4?

A granny charger is a portable Mode 2 charger that plugs into a standard UK 3-pin socket. It charges at around 2.3kW, which is slower than a wallbox but useful for overnight charging or when no wallbox is available. The MG4 typically comes with one as standard.
