What charger type does the Kia EV3 use?

The Kia EV3 uses a Type 2 connector for AC charging and CCS for rapid charging, both through the same charging port. A Mode 3 Type 2 cable works with home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The EV3 can charge at up to 11kW on AC with a three-phase supply and a 22kW cable, or up to 7.4kW on a standard home supply.

Does the Kia EV3 come with a charging cable?

Yes. Kia UK lists a Type 2 charging cable as standard on every EV3 grade, for use with home wallboxes and public AC charge points. A 3-pin portable charger isn't included as standard. If you need a spare, a longer cable, or a 3-pin charger for home, you'll find all three here.

How do I charge my Kia EV3 at home?

You have two options. A 7.4kW home wallbox with a Mode 3 Type 2 cable is the fastest way to charge at home, adding around 25 to 30 miles of range per hour. A Mode 2 3-pin portable charger (a granny charger) plugs into a normal socket and adds around 7 to 10 miles per hour, which is ideal for overnight top-ups.
