This 10 amp charger is suitable for use with a Volkswagen Golf and uses a standard domestic UK 3 pin socket outlet.

The EV Extras charger is rated at 10 amps ( law in the UK to protect domestic circuits against overload and fire risk ) and delivers 2.3 KW of charge.
The 10 amp charging rate translates to approximately 2.3kW or in more real world language approximately 1 mile of range for every 8 minutes of charging* which adds around 80 to 90 miles of range to any electric vehicle or plug in hybrid vehicle when placed on a 12 hour overnight charge.

Being a 10 AMP charger the risk of overloading domestic electrical circuits and associated fire risk is practically non existent which can be a hazard with some of the variable rate chargers on the market .
These portable chargers use a standard UK 3 Pin plug and are ideal for plugging in just about anywhere you can access a standard domestic 13 amp power socket. This makes the EV Extras Portable Charger a near necessity for an EV or PHEV owner not just at home but when out and about.
The charger is waterproof (IP65 rating ) with a 2M cord to the charger and 5 M to the vehicle ( 7M overall length) and 10 M ( 12 M overall length) respectively.
The 13 AMP socket needs to be plugged in either indoors or into a waterproof/ weather rated outdoor socket.

RECOMMENDATIONS
We recommend the 12 metre charger. When you are away from home you never know where the nearest 13 Amp, 3 Pin socket is located, the 12 metre length provides sufficient cable length to cater for almost all scenarios.
