What EV cable do I need to charge at my local supermarket/public parking or service station?
The chargers found at public car parks, service stations and supermarkets all have a universal socket outlet which is common/standard across the UK and Europe and can be used with both Type 1 and Type 2 vehicles.
You can use a Mode 3 charging cable between your electric vehicle and a charging station at either 16A (3.6kW) or 32A (7.2kW or 22kW).
Some public charging points have Mode 4 ‘Rapid’ chargers rated at 43kWh. These use a tethered Type 2 connector (so no extra cable is necessary).
The maximum charge rate is determined by what charging station, vehicle and cable used.
All our cables and coiled cables (except tethered cables) have a connector at one end that fits this universal standard perfectly.
